American Indian Studies: Free Government Sources

A division of the U.S. Department of the Interior. Provides services directly or through contracts, grants, or compacts to Federally recognized tribes, including social services, natural resources management, elementary, secondary, and college education, economic development, law enforcement, administration of tribal courts, and other services.

Part of the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Administers American Indian educational institutions in the U.S.

The USDA's single point of contact for Tribal issues. Works to ensure that relevant programs and policies are efficient, easy to understand, accessible, and developed in consultation with the American Indians and Alaskan Native constituents they impact.

Promotes self-sufficiency for Native Americans by providing discretionary grant funding for community based projects, and training and technical assistance to eligible tribes and native organizations.

Part of the U.S. Department of Education. Supports local educational agencies, Indian tribes and organizations, postsecondary institutions, and other entities to meet the unique educational and culturally related academic needs of American Indians and Alaska Natives.

Part of Oklahoma State Department of Education. Provides teaching and professional development resources that facilitate inclusion of Native American children in positive learning environments and encourage their continued educational growth. Includes lesson plans and educational guides covering each of the tribes in Oklahoma.
